Taipei, Taiwan (Merxwire) - While expansion and growth sit at the core of most companies' business plans, achieving and maintaining those goals also relies on being close to customers and the community. In support of the community and people in need, China Development Holding Corporation (CDF) organized the "Love for You" program nine years ago to fund charities focused on developing life skills for people with disabilities. Through the unified efforts of its subsidiaries such as CBID International, CDF has successfully raised NT$5 million over the years for the program.
CBID International is the private equity arm of CDF, and chaired by Angelo Koo, which also supports various other relevant social welfare and sustainable initiatives.
An example of the program's support for building life skills of people with disabilities, it recently funded the "Amazing Grace Deaf Bakery," a bakery that trains and hires the hearing-impaired. Reverend Hsin-Hung Pan, who runs the bakery and is also the founder of the Amazing Grace program, has created a work environment that uses sign language to break down workplace communication barriers for the hearing-impaired. Under the "Love for You" program, CDF employees purchased treats of the traditional Chinese kind and also those of Western favors this spring in an effort to raise funds for the establishment. "We agree with the Foundation's goal of helping sheltered workshops," said one of the participating employees.
