BEIJING, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.55 percent to 3,132.43 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.97 percent higher at 10,178.74 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices totaled 765.4 billion yuan (about 106.7 billion U.S. dollars), up from 579 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to co-packaged optics and telecommunications led the gains, while companies engaged in precious metals and coal suffered the biggest loss.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.32 percent to close at 2,013.34 points.
